Introduction of the department

Establishment: The Department of Geriatrics was established on July 4th, 2016, as the final department to open in the hospital's Building 1. The department currently has 7 physicians, including 1 associate chief physician, 4 attending physicians, and 2 resident physicians. The department provides 25 inpatient beds and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of geriatric diseases, along with the comprehensive prevention and management of general internal medicine conditions.


Scope of Diagnosis and Treatment

The Geriatrics Department provides care for a wide range of internal medicine conditions in patients aged 60 and above.

The scope includes:

  • Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular System: Hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperuricemia, coronary heart disease, stroke, arrhythmia, chronic heart failure, etc.

  • Respiratory System: Chronic bronchitis, emphysema, pulmonary heart disease, asthma, pneumonia, chronic respiratory failure, etc.

  • Digestive System: Gastric diseases, chronic constipation, chronic diarrhea, indigestion, chronic liver diseases, etc.

  • Nervous System: Dementia, sleep disorders, mental disorders, anxiety, depression, etc.

  • Musculoskeletal System: Chronic osteoarthritis, gouty arthritis, frailty, sarcopenia, and other movement disorders.

  • Urinary System: Chronic renal insufficiency, recurrent urinary tract infections, benign prostatic hyperplasia, etc.

  • Endocrine System: Diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal cortex disorders, etc.

  • Other Conditions: Geriatric pruritus, chronic urticaria, shingles, and palliative care for terminal patients.
