date:2021.09.11

"Are there differences in personal protective measures between asymptomatic patients and severe patients in China? What measures have Chinese counterparts taken to improve the diagnostic success rate of COVID-19 cases? I would like to introduce the successful experience of strengthening protection measures in public areas..."

Chinese and Ecuadorian medical experts held the first cross-border video conference on epidemic prevention and control in Ecuador on the evening of March 3 local time. Eritrean Minister of Health Eduardo Ceballos, Eritrean Ambassador to China Eduardo Hakeme, Chinese Ambassador to Eritrea Chen Guoyou and other officials also attended the video conference. Shortly after the meeting began, medical experts and officials from the Ecuadorian Ministry of Health eagerly asked Li Lanjuan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a member of the High-level expert group of the National Health Commission, a series of questions.

"Early detection, early isolation, early diagnosis and early treatment have been the most successful experience in China's fight against COVID-19. In particular, we should pay attention to the principle of receiving all receivables and treating all receivables... This is what we have concluded to be an effective way to contain and stop the epidemic." Li Lanjuan said.

When Ecuadorian officials mentioned that local people could not properly implement quarantine measures due to differences in customs and living habits, Li repeatedly stressed: "People must be educated to understand this truth, isolation is the most effective means, life is the most precious."

Li Lanjuan, who has been fighting the epidemic for 60 days in Wuhan, is now under medical observation in Hangzhou for 14 days. "Academician Li Lanjuan has profound education and rich clinical experience. She is worthy of being an internationally renowned expert. She shared selflessly and taught us valuable first-hand experiences." Hakeme, director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ecuadorian Ministry of Health, said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency after the meeting.

Hakeme said that the artificial liver blood purification technology introduced by Academician Li Lanjuan has aroused the strong interest of Medical experts in Eritrea, and the cure rate of this technology for critically ill patients is very high. He said Ecuador also hopes to learn more about the unique role of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients.

"Ecuador sincerely thanks China for its valuable support in fighting the epidemic. This video conference is a groundbreaking cooperation project between China and Latin America and demonstrates the deep friendship between the two countries." Ecuadorian Ambassador to China Miguel Larrea said in a telephone interview after the meeting that Ecuadorian President Moreno recently said that global solidarity and cooperation is a powerful weapon to defeat the epidemic. This is in line with the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind put forward by The Chinese leadership. "We need to learn from China's experience and stand ready to further strengthen cooperation with China in fighting COVID-19."

Chen Guoyou, Chinese Ambassador to Eritrea, said, "China is deeply grateful for the valuable support from people from all walks of life in Eritrea during China's difficult time against the epidemic. Given the rapid spread of the epidemic in Ecuador, China reciprocated by responding to Ecuador's demands and offering assistance at the first time. The video conference was timely. like the Chinese proverb ‘ Brothers of the same mind can cut through gold’.'I believe that as long as China and Eritrea work together, we will overcome the difficulties together and defeat the epidemic at an early date."
